The general information below applies to all honor choirs. For more specific information, please visit the links on the bottom of this page.
Note: Auditions for certain voice parts have been re-opened for the period September 1 through October 1, 2011. Please see here for more information.
A. Choirs
Elementary Honor Choir (Treble voice. Students who will be in grades 4, 5, or 6 in February 2012)
Junior High School Honor Choir (Treble and changed voices; Students who will be in grades 7, 8, or 9 in February 2012)
High School Honor Choir (SATB; Students who will be grades 10, 11, or 12 in February 2012. Note: Students who will be in 11 or 12th grade may also audition for the Latino Repertoire Honor Choir.)
Latino Repertoire Honor Choir (SATB; Those who will be in grades 11 or 12 or college in February 2012, and any adult. Note: Students who will be in 11 or 12th grade may also audition for the High School Honor Choir.)
B. Application
Singer applications must be sponsored by a current ACDA member. Members should encourage their best singers to apply. The application period closed as of midnight Monday, June 20, 2011.
The complete application will be submitted online at

Pertinent information must be submitted by both the
applicant and a parent (for those under the age of 18), as well as the
ACDA member–sponsor. An application fee of $30.00 will also be
collected online.

Singers may choose to apply for more than one choir if they meet the eligibility requirements for those choirs. They can use one application form and denote their preferences. A single $30.00 application fee for each applicant will suffice.
C. Acceptance
Acceptances will be emailed to ACDA sponsors on or before September 1, 2011. Rosters will subsequently be posted on the ACDA-ED website.
Accepted participants will be expected to register online and make online hotel reservations by September 20, 2011. (Specific information about registration and housing will be available upon acceptance.)
D. Arrival
Accepted singers and their sponsors/parent representatives should be prepared to arrive in Providence during the day on Wednesday, February 15, 2012 and remain until Saturday, February 18 after the choirs have performed. (Specific arrival times and concert times for each choir will be available upon acceptance.)
E. Housing
The three hotels being used for the conference, including the honor choirs, are the Hilton Providence, the Westin Providence, and the Providence Biltmore. These hotels are in close proximity to each other and the convention site. Rehearsal will also be held in the host hotels. All honor choir participants must stay in the assigned hotel for their choir.
The Hilton Providence is the host hotel for the Elementary Choir. Participants in the Elementary Honor Choir must have a parent representative staying with them in the room at the Hilton Providence Downtown.
Westin Providence is the host hotel for the Junior High Choir. Participants in the Junior High Honor Choir must have a parent representative staying with them in the room at the Westin Providence.
Providence Biltmore is the host hotel for the High School Choir. Any high school student participants in 10th-12th grade, whether in the High School or Latino Repertoire Honor Choir, will be staying in quad rooms at the Providence Biltmore. Singers in 10th-12th grades will be supervised by ACDA chaperones. Participants supervised by ACDA chaperones must have an ACDA sponsor (or a representative named by the sponsor) staying in one of the conference hotels.
Collegiate and adult participants are welcome to stay at either the Biltmore or the Westin. Rehearsals for the Latino Repertoire Choir will be held in the Westin.
F. Communication
All correspondence with honor choir participants will be sent to the ACDA sponsor. The majority of information will be communicated by email and/or be posted on the website. It is the responsibility of the ACDA sponsor to communicate honor choir information to participants in a timely fashion.

G. Music
All music will be mailed to the ACDA sponsor. ACDA sponsors are expected to distribute the music to the honor choir participants.
H. Costs
The registration fee for all the Elementary and Junior School choirs will be $250. This includes two group meals per day (breakfast only on Saturday), music, social activities, and souvenirs.
The registration fee for all High School and Latino Repertoire will be $275. This includes two group meals per day (breakfast only on Saturday), chaperones, music, social activities, and souvenirs.

Scholarship monies may be available for participants who can demonstrate financial need.
