ACDA Eastern Division - Email Practices

The Eastern Division of ACDA uses Constant Contact, a commercial firm specializing in electronic communications, to reach the Division membership with infrequent but important messages.  If you receive emails from ACDA-ED, you have either

  • provided one or more email addresses to ACDA on your membership application, or
  • provided your email address via our website sign-up form.

Each of these actions is interpreted by ACDA-ED as your consent to receive emails from us.

Protections for You

ACDA-ED and Constant Contact both abide by the CAN-SPAM Act of 2003, which prohibits unsolicited marketing emails.  In particular, we both provide the following protections for you, our members and friends:

  1. Our list is consent based - All contacts have given us their prior consent to receive email communications.
  2. Our list is NOT a third party list - Our list has not been purchased, rented, appended or given to us from any third party source.
  3. Our list does NOT contain role addresses or distribution lists - e.g. email addresses that may be received by more than one individual: sales@, support@, users@, list@, etc.
  4. Our list does NOT contain email addresses captured without prior consent, including but not limited to: user group addresses, transactional addresses or auto-response addresses.

How to receive ACDA-ED email notifications

If you are not on our email list and you decide you'd like to be kept informed of important ACDA events, resources, and opportunities, you may subscribe to our list at any time by simply entering your email address in the sign-up box which appears on each page in this site (top right on our home page, middle left below menu on all other pages), and clicking "GO."  You will be shown a confirmation web page when you sign up.

Add to Safe Senders List
If you want to make sure that your Internet Service Provider (or your institution, if applicable) doesn't block messages from ACDA that you wish to receive, please remember to add acdaeast.org to your whitelist, or list of approved senders.

How to stop receiving ACDA-ED email notifications

In addition to the protections described above, Constant Contact provides Safe Unsubscribe, a means whereby you may instantly, permanently, and safely delete your email address from our Send-To list at any time. If you click on the Safe Unsubscribe link in any of our emails, you will receive no further emails from us (at that email address) unless and until you re-subscribe. [You must click Safe Unsubscribe in one email message sent to each unique email address you wish to remove, however, since removal is an automated process specific to each email address, and you may have provided ACDA with more than one email address.]

There is no need to "report as spam" an email from ACDA.  If you don't want to receive emails from us, just click on Safe Unsubscribe, and that's it.  Your name will be removed from our list of active contacts.  You'll see confirmation screens like those below, except that your email address will replace sample@comcast.net.

If when you see the screen above you click on  "Yes, unsubscribe me from all mailings," you'll see the screen below.  We'd appreciate it if you would tell us why you chose to unsubscribe - your feedback is important to us.
