The American Choral Directors Association
in partnership with the
American Guild of Organists (AGO) has convened a choir representing all faiths to join together in praise
and song at the 2010 Eastern Division Conference in Philadelphia,
Pennsylvania. Internationally renowned conductor/ composer
Craig Courtney will lead the
Festival Chorus in rehearsal and conduct it during the conference-wide
interfaith worship service that evening. The day will also include
workshops and repertoire forums for worship music leaders.
In
addition to the Festival Chorus, three invited choirs representing
diverse faiths and worship styles will also raise their voices in praise
at this service, including: Nashirah, the Jewish Chorale of Greater
Philadelphia conducted by
Jonathan Coopersmith;
the Korean United Christians Choir conducted by
Changho Lee; and the Bright Hope
Baptist Church Celestial Choir conducted by
J. Donald Dumpson. Organist
Joshua Stafford
and pianist Thomas Berdos
will provide
hymn accompaniments and service music. Together, we'll share music of
faith in hymns, psalms and anthems. Leaders of various faiths will participate in the service, helping us to worship as one people - United
