Changho Lee
A
native of Korea, Changho Lee began his musical training at the age of
fifteen on the oboe and continued his musical studies at Kyungpook
National University. Later, he went on to earn two master degrees, in
oboe performance under Louis Rosenblatt and choral conducting under Alan
Harler at Temple University. While at Temple, he also studied orchestral
conducting under Maestro Louis Biava.
Presently, Changho Lee serves as an assistant conductor with the
Mendelssohn Club Choir in Philadelphia. He is also the music director at
Cherry Hill Presbyterian Church in New Jersey. Previous appointments
include serving as assistant conductor of the Bucks County Choral
Society, Temple University Concert Choir, University Singers, University
Chorale and Chamber Choir, and also as assistant with the Korea Air
Force Military Band where he served as a captain and conductor for eight
years, from 1992 to 2000.
In the summer of 2008, he participated in the Oregon Bach Festival under
Maestro Helmuth Rilling, sharing the podium with guest conductors in
performances of J.S. Bach's St. John Passion BWV 245, Orchestral Suite
in B minor BWV 1067, Concerto in C minor for Oboe and Violin BWV 1060,
and Concerto in E Major for Violin BWV 1042.
As an instrumentalist, Changho Lee has taught oboe at Haverford & Bryn
Mawr Colleges since 2004. He was the principal oboist for Temple
University Symphony Orchestra, and the Baroque Orchestra and the Civic
Youth Orchestra in Taegu, Korea.
